Balance, balance, balance. I struggled to do walking knee hugs when I first arrived. So much so that I even practiced at home. Now, just think of the challenges I’ve completed. Although, I still wibble-wobble from time to time, my balance is greatly improved and I know it will get even better. I’m grateful – good balance and mobility are so important for aging well.

Strength – I used to avoid packages of water at the grocery store. Now, I don’t think twice about grabbing them in the store and unloading them at home. You should have seen me helping my husband put the Christmas decorations into the attic. I could lift many of the boxes over my head and up to him on the stepladder. He loved it! And I like seeing these muscles.

Coaches ​Scott and Will have created a place where I feel “safe” to take on new challenges. Of course, they provide physical safety like being sure of proper form or modifying exercises for injuries, but it’s more than that. They provide emotional/mental safety as well so that I am willing to take risks or try new challenges. I felt welcomed from the moment I walked in and then encouraged and pushed to get better. I’ve been a yo-yo dieter most of my life. I’ve always been able to get the weight off but never kept it off consistently. I got married a little over a year ago and of course wanted to lose weight for my wedding. By changing my diet, (no starving, no shakes, no pills, no crazy diet fads), I was able to lose almost 30 pounds just from eating right alone. I decided the eating right needed to be a lifestyle change this time. Still, even though I was “skinny” my body still didn’t necessarily look that great.
